Jobsgopublic at the LA Challenge
Sam Wilson, The 6th of November, 2017

On Thursday 2nd November, it was our pleasure to go along to the Local Authority Challenge East as main sponsors and advisers. The event saw 22 teams from local councils from across the East of England take on a gruelling day of role playing tasks. Each team took on the role of the senior management team of a fictional failing council and set about solving a variety of problems and challenges.

As part of our sponsorship of the event, we set a recruitment specific challenge – tasking the teams to devise a strategy for recruiting the apprentices required to meet the quotas of the Apprenticeship Levy. The Jobsgopublic team were on hand to provide advice and guidance to those that sought us out and assessed the submissions.

We were blown away by the work of the teams, not just in the recruitment challenge but throughout the day.

Our Commercial Director, Fraser Chapman, helped hand out the awards at the end of a great day and had this to say – “It’s been such a fantastic event to be part of and it’s great to see how many driven and innovative individuals there are within our local authorities. We can feel safe in the knowledge that there are some outstanding leaders of the future coming though. A huge congratulations to Luton Borough Council for winning our award and Hertfordshire County Council for taking the Best Team award. We also have to congratulate Breckland Training for putting together such a great day, we’re looking forward to working with them more in the future.”

Congratulations to all the winners on the day and to everyone who took part.
